Essential Requirements:
Education: An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity IT Networking, or a related field.
Experience: Multiple years of IT experience with a verifiable focus on cybersecurity and/or physical security systems (Cameras/Access Control).
Technical Proficiencies: Fortinet (Firewalls), Cynet (XDR), Mosyle (MDM), Action 1, and experience with IP-based surveillance and door access platforms.
No history of child abuse or negligence.
Successfully pass required background checks.
Regular and dependable in person attendance is required and is considered a condition of employment.
The ability to perform the identified tasks and performance responsibilities which requires effective teaching and communication skills.
The ability to perform the below identified physical requirements.
Role Overview: The Technology Security Specialist is the lead guardian of the district’s digital and physical security infrastructure. This role balances high-level administration of core security platforms (Fortinet, Cynet, Mosyle) with the management of physical security systems, including IP cameras and door access controls. We are seeking a candidate who is both a technical expert and a clear communicator capable of bridging the gap between complex security protocols and school safety operations.
Essential Responsibilities:
Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
Firewall & Network Defense
Firewall Administration: Serve as the Primary Firewall Administrator (Fortinet), managing configurations and policies in coordination with ESU3 SOC.
Network Engineering: Act as Secondary Network Administrator with authority to manage configurations and shut down ports to mitigate security incidents.
BYOD and Public Internet Access: Improve and or develop new methods of public, sponsored, and guest Internet access
Next-Gen Infrastructure: Consult on and implement the next generation of the district’s secure network in collaboration with the district network administrator.
Endpoint, Device Management
Security Operations: Act as the Primary Admin for Cynet (XDR/MDR) to monitor and respond to endpoint threats.
Device Management: Utilize Mosyle (MDM) and Action 1 to automate patch management and enforce security mitigations across all computers and district-issued devices.
Mobile Security: Ensure encryption, remote-wipe capabilities, and secure authentication are enforced on all mobile communication devices.
Physical Security & IoT Systems
Surveillance Systems: Oversee the security and connectivity of the IP Camera network, ensuring continuous recording, secure storage, and authorized access only.
Access Control: Manage the digital backend for door access systems, including credential management, schedule overrides, and hardware security.
IoT Hardening: Ensure all physical security devices (cameras, sensors, door controllers) are isolated on secure VLANs and regularly patched against vulnerabilities.
Server & Infrastructure Security
Systems Administration: Serve as Secondary Server Administrator, overseeing security agents, performing audits, and ensuring server hardening.
Testing & Audits: Conduct regular internal audits, network scans, and penetration testing.
Governance, Training & Consultation
Awareness Programs: Develop and lead Cybersecurity Awareness Training for all staff.
Strategic Consulting: Advise on the procurement of new endpoint security agents, camera hardware, or door access technology to improve the district's safety posture.
