VHS is seeking qualified Locum Nurse Practitioners in Nevada to support Veterans through Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interview-based C&P exams and separation health assessments with Veterans.
- Perform physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing.
- Complete comprehensive reports and addendums accurately and promptly.
- Follow standardized procedures without prescribing medications or providing treatment.
- Maintain timely communication and documentation to ensure smooth workflow.
Required Skills:
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Nevada.
- Experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related fields.
- Strong interview and physical assessment skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage caseload efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Previous experience with Compensation & Pension exams or military/veteran healthcare.
- Familiarity with VA or government-related healthcare processes.
- Ability to adapt to various practice settings with minimal supervision.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master s or Doctorate degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a primary care or general medicine setting.
- Previous experience conducting VA or similar assessments is advantageous.
Other Requirements:
- Must have own office location within specified NV regions (Pahrump, Gardnerville/Minden, Ely).
- Availability for PRN shifts: day (4 hours) or full day (8 hours), ongoing.
- Ability to work within the rate structure: $600 for half-day shifts and $1,200 for full-day shifts, with a $650 bonus for completing initial training and first exams.
- Local candidates only; travel is included in the rates.
- No reimbursement for certifications or portal training prior to onboarding.
- Follow-up administrative work may be required; note this is included in the flat rates and not paid separately.
