Join Our Team as a Locum Physician OB Hospitalist in Waverly, IA

Are you a dedicated OB Hospitalist seeking a rewarding temporary opportunity to make a meaningful impact? We are currently looking for a qualified and enthusiastic physician to serve as a locum OB hospitalist in Waverly, IA. This role offers a unique chance to work in a supportive environment, delivering exceptional care to obstetric and gynecologic patients, while enjoying competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

In this vital position, you will provide OB hospitalist coverage, including deliveries, GYN emergencies, and triage, within a facility that handles approximately 200 hospital deliveries annually. You will see an expected 13+ patient encounters daily, with an average of 1-4 deliveries per shift. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standard of patient care, all within a secure Level 1 NICU setting. The hospitalists will also provide Gynecology coverage to address unassigned emergencies and OB triage, facilitating seamless patient management.

Required Skills:

• Board eligibility or certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology
• Active medical license in Iowa or eligibility to obtain one
• Proven experience in hospital-based OB care and deliveries
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to handle high-acuity obstetric cases efficiently

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with EMR systems (specific system TBD)
• Familiarity with high-volume obstetric environments
• Prior work in a hospitalist model
• Advanced skills in gynecologic emergency management

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Previous hospitalist experience in obstetrics
• Recent clinical practice in an inpatient setting

Other Requirements:

• EMR system proficiency or willingness to learn
• Ability to travel to the facility as needed
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Willingness to work shifts based on hospital needs, including nights and weekends
